Stamping is a terrific way to embellish scrapbooks and cards. It's also a super easy craft to do with kids. But, stamp pads you find in craft stores can get really expensive.

These eHow instructions of How To Make Washable Stamp Pads will teach you how to make your own stamp pad for a fraction of the cost of a store bought ink pad.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Small square plastic container with a lid-like a travel soap container
  • Sponge
  • Scrap of t-shirt fabric
  • White glue
  • poster paints
  • Tablespoon
  • Small Bowl
  • Scissors
  1. Step 1

Gather together all your supplies. Cut the sponge to fit inside of the plastic container.

  2. Step 2

Take a square of scrap t-shirt and place the sponge on top of it. Wrap the edges of the t-shirt to the opposite side of the sponge. With the t-shirt fabric wrapped snug on the sponge, insert the sponge into the plastic container.

  3. Step 3

Now take the small mixing bowl and mix together 4 tablespoons of poster or tempera paint and 1 tablespoon of white glue. Pour this mixture over the sponge, cover and let the paint soak into the sponge.

  4. Step 4

Go ahead and make as many colors as you'd like, just be sure to keep them covered or they'll dry out fast.

If you're stamp pad does start to dry out just add a little bit of water and keep on stamping. When the ink starts to get low in your stamp pad just go ahead and make a new batch of rubber stamp ink.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you'd like to make the ink in your stamp pad more permanent just substitute acrylic paint for the tempera paint.
  • You can also use rubber stamp ink in this kind of stamp pad.
