Love to cook, or want to learn how, but don't want to do it alone? Do you want to meet other moms/dads who feel the same way? Then read on to learn how to start a cooking club play group!

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A group of moms/dads
  • Location suitable for cooking & children
  • Cooking Supplies
  1. Step 1

Gather a group of moms and/or dads that are interested in having a cooking club play group.

  2. Step 2

As a group determine the style of cooking club you want. Is it going to be adults and kids cooking, just kids (with parental help as needed) or are the adults going to cook while the kids play?

  3. Step 3

Vote on what day(s) and time(s)the play group will be held as well as how frequently.

  4. Step 4

Decide how you will divide up the cost of supplies and who will be responsible for bringing them. In order to determine this you will need to decide whether everyone will be working together to make one or more recipes, or if everyone will make a separate recipe.

Some ways to do this are:

    * Have one person purchase all necessary supplies and then divide the final cost evenly between all members.
    * Alternate who provides the supplies each play group.
    * Have each member provide the supplies needed to make their recipe.
    * Have each member provide the supplies needed to make their recipe and then split the cooked meals between all members.

  5. Step 5

Determine whether each cooking club play group will happen at the same location, or if the club will alternate between members homes or other available locations.

  6. Step 6

Discuss different theme ideas that interest each member as well as any allergies or foods that members don't like or can't eat.

  7. Step 7

Plan some activities for the children to keep them busy if they won't be participating in the cooking. You may want to assign a different member each time to be with the kids and keep them occupied.

  8. Step 8

Arrange at least one get together before you start cooking to get to know the other members and finalize the details for the cooking club play group.

  9. Step 9

Hold the first cooking club play group and follow up with each member to get their feedback. Adjust the club as needed to create a fun and successful cooking club play group!

Tips & Warnings
  • You can also have all the members cook their recipe at home and bring the final product to the play group to share with the other members. This is a great alternative if there isn't a suitable location to accommodate everyone to cook at once.
