Facebook's "Farm Town" is a simulation game in which you build a farm. It is interactive and online, and your friends can help you harvest and vice versa. If your crops are growing and you have time to spare, you might want to check out the marketplace. Here, farmers and harvesters can get together and help one another.

Don't beg. A lot of farmers will not hire people who beg in the marketplace, so don't say, "Hire me please!" or "Need a job!" Desperation is a turnoff in "Farm Town."

Make yourself visible. When you load into the marketplace, you'll show up in the middle. Make yourself stand out. Move your character around the room or pick an area and let people know where you are. For example, hang out by the crates and let people know you're there if they need you. Also, if you chat with other farmers and harvesters, a speech bubble will show up above your character, drawing attention to you. Use all of these techniques together to get noticed.

Be a tree hugger. Let people know that you will not harvest trees unless you are asked. A lot of players like to keep their trees with the fruit on them because they look nice, so before you get work, let them know you will listen to any instructions they have regarding their land and how they want it harvested.

Be nice to other people in the marketplace chat room, spark up a friendly conversation and be careful not to make any off-color jokes. You never know who is in the marketplace with you.

Click the "Go Home" button, then go back to a marketplace. There's more than one marketplace in "Farm Town," so be sure to utilize the other rooms, where you might have better luck.

Go into different language rooms. You might find much less competition for work in places like the French-speaking marketplace, for example.

Harvest for your friends and let them work for you. If you have numerous friends and neighbors in the game, you'll always have someone's plants to harvest.

Tips & Warnings
Harvesting for another farmer is a win/win situation: You get paid 25 percent of the value of the harvested crop and the farmer who hired you makes more money on the crop in general.
When you're hired in the marketplace on Farm Town, immediately add the farmer as a buddy. The servers can be pretty iffy sometimes and you can lose a job by being booted after a server disconnect. Add the farmer as a buddy so you can go right back to his farm for a rehire.
