Things You'll Need:
- Microsoft Word 2003
- (if you have Office 2007 see my article "How to make Office 2007 look like 2003")
-
Step 1
Recorded macros can easily be assigned to toolbarsIf you are recording a macro, you can easily create a toolbar button for it by clicking the "Assign to Toolbar" button in the attached picture.
If you have created your macro by other means,or you want more control over the appearance of your toolbar and button, read on! -
Step 2
Creating a new toolbar. So, let's assume you have a macro somewhere in your template file (so it is available every time you start Word) and you want to make it easily accessible via a button. Click on Toolbars/Customize/New to create a new toolbar. Make sure it is visible by checking the box next to its name.
-
Step 3
A new, lonely, empty toolbar. The toolbar will show up,usually floating somewhere, and empty. You can drag it alongside the other toolbars in the space above your document.
-
Step 4
Drag your macro to the toolbar. Now go again to the Customize menu, and click on the Commands tab. Select the Macros category and simply drag your macro onto the the new toolbar.
-
Step 5
The toolbar now has a button!Your toolbar should now have the macro name in it, clickable. You can further customize its appearance, but I'll leave that for a future article.
