Things You'll Need:
- crockpot
- water
- old-fashioned oatmeal
- Hershey's Special Dark chocolate or other dark chocolate cocoa powder
- salt
-
Step 1
It's most convenient to make dark chocolate oatmeal in a crockpot. You can place the ingredients in the crockpot and allow it to cook overnight. When you wake up, the delicious smells of hot cereal will fill the kitchen.
-
Step 2
Place three cups of water in the crockpot and add a cup and a half of old fashioned, rolled oats.
-
Step 3
Add three tablespoons of Hershey's Special Dark cocoa powder to the crockpot. Using special dark cocoa powder will add more heart healthy flavonoids.
-
Step 4
Add a pinch of salt to taste.
-
Step 5
Mix the ingredients and turn the crockpot on low.
-
Step 6
When you wake up the next morning, pour the dark chocolate oatmeal into a bowl. For additional chocolate flavor, sprinkle with dark chocolate chips. You can also use a knife to make chocolate shavings from a dark chocolate candy bar.
-
Step 7
If you want your dark chocolate oatmeal to be sweeter, add a small amount of agave nectar syrup or maple syrup before serving. Add milk if desired. Enjoy!
