A great way for any baseball enthusiast or player to practice his hitting skills is to build a batting cage in the backyard. Having your own batting cage will save you a lot of money and allows you to practice when ever you have spare time. You can build a batting cage with just some materials and basic tools.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Netting
  • Aluminum tubing
  1. Step 1

Draw up plans for your batting cage. Decide how big to make the cage and whether you plan on using a pitch machine or an actual pitcher.

  2. Step 2

Select a location in your back yard to erect the batting cage.

  3. Step 3

Stick two aluminum tubes into the soil about 3- to 4-feet deep. Adjust the height of the tubes to the specified height on your plans. Connect both aluminum pieces together to form the skeleton of the batting cage.

  4. Step 4

Attach some netting material to the tube frame and drape it down the back of the frame to make the batting cage.
