How to Replace a Lens Cap

Due to their small size, camera lens caps are very easy to lose or damage.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Photography supply store
  1. Step 1
    Filter thread
     
    Filter thread

    Locate the filter thread on your lens. Your new lens cap must fit in this space.

  2. Step 2
    Note the size indicated (58 mm).

    Locate the area on the filter where the thread size is indicated (e.g., 58 mm). This is your thread size. If you do not have a filter on your lens and you do not know its thread size, continue to the next step.

  3. Step 3

    Locate a camera supply store near you. Ask someone working at the store to help you find the appropriate lens cap for your lens and purchase.

  4. Step 4

    Note down the thread size, which is on the inside of the lens cap, for future use.
