How to Change Oakley Lenses

Save

Oakley touts its sunglasses for their durability and strength -- not surprising for a sunglasses brand popular among both athletes like longtime collaborator Lance Armstrong and action movie stars. This does not mean the lenses won't occasionally succumb to scratches and other damage, however. Fortunately, without having to handle the tiny screws that come with some sunglasses, replacing the lenses on Oakley sunglasses is not difficult, regardless of the frame style. With proper handling, the lenses will pop safely in and out of the frames, giving these pricey accessories a longer life.

Grasp the sunglasses with both hands. Put the thumb and index finger of your dominant hand on the nose bridge and the top of the frame, respectively. Hold the lens you want to remove with your other hand.

With your dominant hand, gently bend the nose bridge and push down on the frame.

Use your other hand to remove the lens.

Grip the replacement lens in your dominant hand while holding the glasses with your other hand.

Slide the lens tab into the frame, aligning it in the frame. Gently slide it into the frame's groove.

Still gripping the lens, slide the thumb of your other hand along the frame's top. The lens should snap into place.

Hold the glasses in both hands, using your dominant hand to grip the lens you want to remove and your other hand to grip the frame.

Pull the lens to loosen it from the temple and remove it.

Pick up the new lens with your dominant hand, and grip the glasses in your other hand just over the opposite frame.

Slide the outer tab of the new lens into place and line up the inner tab with the nose bridge's groove.

Still gripping the lens, slide the thumb of your other hand along the frame's top. The lens should snap into place.
