How to Get Rid of a Dead Animal Smell in the Wall
If you have a smell in your house that you can't seem to locate the source for, unfortunately it may be because something has died in your walls. Normally, the smell will eventually go away on its own, but waiting it out can be unpleasant, and even embarrassing if you have guests over. Things You'll Need
- Hammer, saw or drill
- Flashlight
- Gloves
- Tongs
- Trash bag
- Bleach
- Wall patching kit

Locate the area in the wall where the smell seems to be the strongest. To eliminate the smell, you will first have to locate the animal.

Make a hole in the wall where you believe the source of the smell is. Make the hole as small as you can, while still being able to see inside the wall. You can use a hammer, saw or drill to make the hole.

Shine a flashlight in and look for the animal. You may need to make a larger hole if you can't locate it.

Put gloves on and use tongs to place the animal into a garbage bag. Seal the bag tightly.

Spray the whole area with bleach. Allow it to sit and soak in for 10 minutes. If the smell is still strong, repeat this step.

Allow the inside of the wall to dry completely.

Use the wall repair kit as directed to fix the hole in your wall.
