How to Care for Your New Tattoo on Your Foot

Afraid your foot might be infected after getting it tattooed? I recently got my first tattoo and it is on my foot - and it's BIG. It did some funky things and I was absolutely convinced there was something wrong with it. Apparently, it did exactly what it was supposed to though!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Vitamin A&D ointment
  • lotion - fragrance free
  • Neosporin
  • Ibuprofen
  1. Step 1

Keep your foot clean! Make sure that you gently wash it at least once a day with a gentle, anti-bacterial soap and warm water. Pat it dry (do not rub) with a soft cloth.

  2. Step 2

Don't go swimming or sit in the hot tub for the first 2 months! This will make your tattoo fade.

  3. Step 3

Make sure that you put Vitamin A&D ointment onto your tattoo throughout the day. You want to put a dab onto your finger, rub it into your tattoo (make sure you get it in there really good) and then gently dab off (with a paper towel) any excess goop. You want to keep it "wet" with the goo, but you don't want it too goopy.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you are going to be in the sun, make sure you put sunscreen on your tattoo
  • Don't freak out if your foot swells (ALOT) - this is normal!
  • Your foot may get very red and be very painful - so long as it is not oozing (green/yellow) and it is not hot to the touch, you're okay.
  • If you suspect infection, GO TO YOUR DOCTOR RIGHT AWAY!
