How to Convert MP3 to AAC

MP3 audio is a digital compression format used on most portable MP3 players and digital computer audio programs. Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) is an audio format developed by Apple to deliver compressed audio. AAC audio delivers high-resolution audio up to 96 kHz. Because of its exceptional quality, it is becoming the preferred format for broadcast arenas, the Internet and wireless portable devices. To convert MP3 audio to AAC, you need an audio converter program.

      Download Switch Audio Converter (see link in Resources). Select the location to save to, and then finalize the installation. Double click your program from your desktop or the location where you saved it to launch it. Click "Add Files," and then locate your MP3 audio file from your computer. Click "Open" to load it to your program.

      Click the green "Play" button on the top panel to preview your input MP3 file. Click "Browse" on the lower panel to select the output folder where your converted file will be saved.

      Select "AAC" in the output format window, and then click the "Encoder Options" button. Select the bit-rate and quality settings. Select the "Stereo" output channel settings, for a left and right playback, and then click "OK" to save your changes.

      Click the "Convert" button to begin the conversion process. When it is complete, click "Open Output Folder" to reveal the converted AAC file.
