How to Cure Rosacea with Herbs

Rosacea or acne rosacea is a common long term skin condition that affects millions of people worldwide. This condition is characterized by pimples and redness all over the face. There are countless of creams and antibiotics that are used to treat rosacea; however, numerous people affected by this condition are looking for effective herbal treatments that work as good as the over the counter remedies.

        Apply green tea leaves to your face. Cook green tea leaves in water until it boils, then strain them, and place them on your face in layers. Epigallocatechin is the active ingredient in this herb which reduces redness and facial inflammation. Apply this for forty minutes daily.

        Use Lavender oil. This oil contains the natural alcohol linalool which helps reduce the pain and redness associated with rosacea. Make sure to wash your face before applying the lavender oil. Apply the oil generously and massage for ten minutes avoiding your eyes. Leave on for one hour. Rinse off and pat dry.

        Use Chamomile on your face. This flower contains the active ingredient terpene bisabolol which reduces swelling, redness and pain. Bring four cups of chamomile flowers to a boil. Let stand for two hours. The flowers have become soft at this point. Drain the water and apply the flowers to you face. Leave on for thirty minutes. Afterward, peel off the flowers from your face and wash after two hours. Do this on a daily basis.

        Apply an oatmeal mixture to your face. Oatmeal contains a high amount of antioxidants that can sooth the inflammation, itchiness and dryness associated with rosacea. Make a bowl of oatmeal as you normally would for breakfast. Squeeze a lemon into the mixture. The lemon acts as an antibacterial when mixed with oatmeal. Apply the warm mixture to your face and leave on for thirty minutes. Rinse well and pat dry.

        Use Tea Tree Oil. This popular oil is comprised of the active ingredient Terpinen-4-ol which is an antibacterial and reduces inflammation and itchiness. Apply tea tree oil generously to your face before going to bed. Leave on the whole night and rinse out in the morning.
