Turn off the DSL modem and router (if used) by disconnecting the power cable as well as turning off your Xbox 360. Connect your DSL modem or router to your Xbox 360 via the Ethernet port on the back of the unit.

Power on the DSL modem, router (if used) and the Xbox 360. Ensure that the proper lights on your DSL modem are blinking to indicate an Internet connection. See your DSL modem owner's manual for more information.

On the Xbox 360, navigate to My Xbox > System Settings > Network Settings > Configure Network > IP Settings and select "Automatic."

Go back to My Xbox > System Settings > Network Settings and select "Test Xbox Live Connection." Select "Yes" when alerted that your network connection will be ended. This is not relevant because at the moment you don't have a connection.

Tips & Warnings
If your Network Connection Tests have negative results, ensure that the DSL modem is working properly and that all cables are connected securely.
