Install Gutter Covers
Install Gutter Covers

Installing gutter covers is quite easy. You can either add the covers yourself or hire a contractor to come and install them for you. Covering your gutters helps to keep the leaves and other debris out of the gutters and helps to discourage birds from nesting.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

To install your gutter covers, prop your ladder up against the side of the house and use caution not to dent your existing gutters. There are certain ladders you can use that go up and over the gutter but this isn’t necessary. If you decide you want to use one of these ladders without purchasing one, there are many stores that will rent them out for a small fee.

  2. Step 2

Before installing your gutter covers, you need to clean out the debris inside the gutters. You can use a scooping tool and the bucket to avoid leaving debris underneath your project.

  3. Step 3

Place the 2x4 into the gutter and remove the old gutter spikes with the hammer. Add them to your bucket.

  4. Step 4

You will then replace all of the gutter spikes by using new threaded spikes.

  5. Step 5

Add the downspout protectors and then snap on the gutter covers. These gutter protectors should easily slide into place right over your existing gutters.
