I'll show you how to get started.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer
  • Internet Connection
  • Blogging Platform
  • Domain Name
  • Photo Editing Software
  • Items to Review
  1. Step 1

    Secure a Domain Name.
Choose a name for your blog that you like and identifies what type of products you'd like to write about. This will be the URL that identifies your blog specifically. There are many companies that you can buy a domain name from. Do a search for "domain name."

  2. Step 2

Set up your blog on a Hosting Platform.
Blogger/Blogspot is a free hosting platform. You can choose many free "themes" or designs for your blog from the ones available.

There are also many graphic artists available where you can have your blog theme custom developed.

If you're familiar with Wordpress, you can also host your blog through the free Wordpress.com platform, or self-host through a hosting company. Again, there are several hosting companies available. Many cater specifically to Work-At-Home Moms.

  3. Step 3

Decide What Products You're Going to be Reviewing.

Target your niche. If you have young children, you may want to begin by reviewing childrens clothing, toys, or baby products.

If you have an interest in beauty or cosmetic items, begin by reviewing your favorite fragrances, makeup or other items that you already own.

Perhaps your interest is in cooking. Start by reviewing the kitchen small appliances that you already own. You can also review your favorite food or organic products that you purchase on a regular basis.

  4. Step 4

Visit Popular Blogs and Leave Comments

Visit some popular mommy review blogs and leave comments on their posts. This is one way to get your blog name recognized as well as get an idea of what the common style of posting format is.

  5. Step 5

    Join Social Media Networking Sites.

It's important to join social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, FriendFeed and other forums and ning sites. You can promote your posts in this manner and gain some traffic, as well as build a sense of community.

  6. Step 6

Submit Your Site To Blog Directories

After you've visited other product review blogs, submit your blog to sites in order to gain some traffic. Some are Free to join, while others may require payment.

  7. Step 7

    Host Giveaway Contests.

Consider hosting Giveaways. Giveaway Contests involve a tremendous amount of work in order to promote and follow through on, but they do bring traffic to your site.

  8. Step 8

    Develop a Media Kit

Once you have become established and have several posts on your site, review your stats. At this point you will want to consider developing a media kit to submit to PR Reps.

  9. Step 9

Contact PR Representatives and Advertising Departments of Companies

When you see a product you would like to review, contact the PR Department and email your media kit to the representative. You may want to ask if a Giveaway is possible in addition to the product you are requesting to review.
