Step 1
First, get a pen and paper. Make a list of all your talents, interest, and skills.
-
Step 2
Get a catalog from all your local colleges, and see which majors are available. You can broaden your choices if you decide that you want to go to college online.
-
Step 3
After you decided which are available, talk to your academic advisor. Your academic advisor has likely been around the block and knows which ones students are happy with and make a good career choice with.
-
Step 4
Talk to the alumni, they have been there and are in the business community. You could also check the world wide web, where information is endless.
-
Step 5
After you have about five majors left. Audit some classes in those areas. Perhaps you are thinking about being a photographer so you take a photo class. You may decide that photography is not for you. Or, maybe you might audit a law class, and you discover you really like it.
-
Step 6
You could also volunteer in that area. Maybe you are thinking of psychology or mental health, and you could volunteer at a half-way house or a mental clinic.
-
Step 7
If you decide that you really like to majors, talk to your academic counselor how difficult it would be to double-major, or taking one as a minor.
-
Step 8
Good luck!
