How to Find Motivation For Story Telling

Sometimes, it's easy to find the motivation for storytelling.

In ancient times, bards told exciting stories of adventure and romance. They also recited epic poetry to audiences and, in return, received great acclaim and adulation for their presentations. Whether you will be telling stories to children through a local playhouse or library or you simply want to learn to tell stories to your own children, there are several steps that you can take to motivate yourself in becoming a better storyteller.

Instructions

1. Find ways to animate the story that you will tell. This can include using props, sound effects or puppets to help the story come alive for your audience. You may want to make a puppet house using cardboard, construction paper, fabric and various other art supplies.

2. Take an amateur acting class at a community theater of community college. Actors learn how to use every tool at their disposal to relate a story to an audience. These tools include the actors voice, movements and emotions.

3. Get your audience involved in the story. Ask members of your audience to participate, even in a small way. For example, if you were telling the story of "The Little Engine that Could," children could say the line "I think I can" or make the noises of a train.
