Things You'll Need:
- Dawn Dish soap (the regular blue one)
- Bath tub or bathing area
- White vinegar
- spray bottle
- water
- flea powder
- vacuum
-
Step 1
The first step is getting the fleas off of your dog. Dawn dish soap is gentle and safe. It kills the fleas quickly and instantly. You will need to get your dog completely wet, and then lather it up with the dawn dish soap. Let the lather set for five minutes before rising out. You will start to see the fleas dying. You will want to do this step once a week. The adult fleas will dye, but the eggs will not. By washing once a week, you will kill the hatched fleas.
-
Step 2
After bathing and rinsing your pet, you will want to mix water and vinegar fifty-fifty in your spray bottle. Next you will want to spray your pet with the mixture. He will not like it much, but it will help keep fleas off. The flea doesn't like the vinegar and will not be attracted to the pet. The vinegar will dry and the smell will go away. The pet will have a sweet smell after the vinegar dries.
-
Step 3
Next you will need to sprinkle a small amount, about a fourth of a cup of flea powder onto your carpet. Then vacuum it up. Then vacuum your entire house. The flea powder in your vacuum will kill the fleas you have vacuum up. You will need to vacuum twice a day until you fleas are gone.
It will take some time and patients, but it will pay off. After about two weeks, the flea problem should be gone. If you have a very very bad flea problem, you may need professional help.

on 9/7/2009 I would appreciate if someone else would respond, but yes it does really work! In fact I just bathed my dog and two cats today with it. If you dog had really bad fleas, you would see them dying as the dawn sets in. As for why the monthly treatments aren't fully working, I don't know. I have always used the dawn and we rarely ever have flea problems.
