Frozen Margaritas
Frozen Margaritas

Ever been to a Mexican restaurant and had an AMAZINGLY Smooth and tasty frozen Margarita! Want to make them at home? But you don't want to spend big bucks on professional margarita machine or rent one. I'm going to show you how to make an awesome Frozen Margarita just as tasty and smooth as any restaurant you have ever had before!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Agvales Gold Tequila
  • DeKuyper Triple Sec
  • Daily' s Margarita Mix
  • Homemade Ice Cream Maker
  • Ice
  • Salt (Rock or Plain)
  • Optional - Limes, Margarita Salt, Hot Summer Day!
  1. Step 1

Preparation - Get out all of the ingredients and line them up. You can use this recipe and method to make a few drinks or up to two gallons.

If you have ever tried making margarita in the blender you know then never come out quite right. I got this recipe from a local Mexican Inn where I live .... after I had the best Rita I've ever had I walked over to the bar and asked the guy how they made them. He gave me all of the specifics and now i give them to you. Hope you enjoy!

  2. Step 2
Rival Ice Cream Maker From Wal-Mart

Rival Ice Cream Maker From Wal-Mart

For this recipe we will be using a home made ice cream maker! Yup that's right. Essentially, that's what a professional margarita and slurpee machines are. They constantly churn the mix in a really cold container until it freezes. This is the "At Home Secret" to making perfectly smooth ritas.

You can get a cheap 2 Gallon Ice Cream Maker from wal mart for about $30 bucks. I bought and love this one but I'm sure any will do!

  3. Step 3

Pour the ingredients into the ice cream canister. I use the following mix but you can adjust the taste to your liking. I usually make big batches for parties but you can adjust for your needs. This will make about 2 pitchers. I put a link below that will help with the portions.

    Recipe
1 - Bottle of Daily' s Margarita Mix (64oz) - This is good stuff and the bottle looks like this (http://tiny.cc/mix423)

12oz - Of Agavales Gold Tequila - This stuff is cheap and good bout 12 bucks a bottle. I recommend to add tequila slowly and taste the batch after each addition to get it just right. (http://tiny.cc/agavales)

6oz - of Triple Sec - Again the cheep stuff will do just fine. Triple sec is Triple sec. Mix liquid slowly and taste often to get it just right. (http://tiny.cc/triplesec)

Pour all of these into the ice cream canister and close it up. That's it easy right! Keep in mind that most restaurants use cheap tequila and mixers and make awesome margaritas. You don't have to buy the fancy stuff to them to taste great. These particular ritas are some of the best I've tasted.

  4. Step 4

Follow the directions on the ice cream maker.

Insert the canister and pour ice and lots of salt around the tub. Make sure you put the canister in before the ice!

Note - Most use rock salt but again salt is salt, you can use table salt if you like just use a lot! 2-3 cups.

  5. Step 5
    Ritas

Plug in and turn on the ice cream maker. Let it run about 30-40 mins and check it. The mixture will slowly begin to freeze into a soft smooth margarita texture. If its too slushy just let it run.

One note: It helps freeze faster if the ingredients are chilled first. You can drop a few cubes of ice into the mixture to cool it quicker but its not necessary and it waters down the rita.

Pretty soon you'll have a whole canister full of super smooth margaritas!

  6. Step 6

Pour the canister into a big pitcher, salt the rim of a few glasses and serve.

    To salt a margarita glass:
    1. Sprinkle some table salt into a saucer and put a table spoon of water into a different saucer.
    2. Touch the rim of the glass into the water saucer
    3. Then dip it into the dry salt saucer
    4. Make sure you salt the glass before you pour the rita!
