An ice cream ball ice cream maker is a plastic ball that actually makes a sweet treat for you while you are playing with it. This is a great kid-powered way to make ice cream while you are on a camping trip or in another location where you might not have power for your electric ice cream maker.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 pint cream
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1/3 cup of sugar
  • Measuring spoons
  • Ice cream ball ice cream maker
  • Measuring cups
  • Rock salt
  • Ice
  1. Step 1

Put the ingredients in the metal tube in the ice cream ball. Pour in the cream. Then add 1/3 cup of sugar and the vanilla.

  2. Step 2

Close the lid of the ice cream ball. There will be a custom wrench that fits on the lid of the ball. Fit it into the top of the ball and use it to tighten the lid on.

  3. Step 3

Put rock salt and ice into the other side of the ice cream ball. You will need to use the wrench to remove the closure on this side. Add as much ice as possible, then fill in the holes with rock salt. This will keep the ice from melting.

  4. Step 4

Close the lid once you are done. To make sure that it will not leak, shake the ball over the sink and look for drips of cream or water.

  5. Step 5

Roll the ice cream for 15 minutes. You need to keep the ball in motion at all times. You can toss the ball (but be careful because it is hard!), play hot potato with it, let your dog fetch it or even bounce it on your trampoline.

  6. Step 6

Replenish the ice cream ball's salt and ice. After 15 minutes, pour out the water and put in more ice and salt. While you have stopped, stir the cream and make sure you scrape all the ice cream off the sides and bottom of the ice cream cylindar. Otherwise, the ice cream will get so hard that you will not be able to get it out. Replace the closures when you are done.

  7. Step 7

Roll the ball for another 22 more minutes. As before, you need to keep the ball in motion however you can. Now you are ready to open up the ice cream cylindar and dip out delicious ice cream.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure that you get the lid on tightly every time.
  • If you are rolling the ice cream ball inside, then place a blanket over the floor to make sure that no leaks mess up the carpet.
  • The ball is hard, so do not throw it at people's heads and do not throw it period if you are making ice cream with kids.
