Local musicians have a tough time getting publicity for their project and filling seats for their gigs. I'm going to give you some tips on how to get people to show up for your shows without spending a dime!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Put the Band Back Together! Make a few phone calls, get out the old axe and dust off a few riffs, freshen up with a few practice sessions. In case youve already complete this step or have a serious band then just move forward on to step two.

Once you've done that set up a gig (For more info on getting a gig check out this article)

  2. Step 2

    Start Spreading the word!

Here are 5 Things you can do to get the word out about your show.

    1. Tell your friends and family and ask them to tell others! - Keep in mind word of mouth is on of the best forms of publicity!

    2. Post Flyers Online for your show - Sites like www.CatchAClue.net and www.Craigslist.com are great resources to post announcements and flyers for your show for free. CatchAClue allows you to post your flyer and fill in all the details and comes with google map.

    3. Send emails to bloggers in your area and see if they will write an article.

    4. Make a note on your myspace page - If you dont have a band myspace page then make your own, or just ask a friend to post a bulletin for you. - Social networking is a great tool for spreading the word.

    5. Publicity Stunt - Ok be careful with this one, but if your creative it can work great. Call a radio station and shout out your show/website live on air, Make a crop circle, Go streaking at a sporting event with your website painted on your bod.....Just be creative and dont get mad at me if you go too far and break the law.

  3. Step 3

The most important step is to play good music and play often! The more you play in a circuit and the better you sound the word will naturally get out about your music.
