      Scrapbook Pages

PICK A THEME - Before picking out your scrapbook, scrapbook paper and style elements, you need to pick a theme for your Guestbook. A lot of times Guestbooks are drab and unrelated to the event, but if you want to know how to make a guestbook at home, you might as well make an amazing one!

Decide whether you want a theme that is specifically related to your event, or if you would prefer choosing a stylistic theme, such as retro, simplistic, color schemes, etc. Looking at the types of scrapbook page backgrounds will help you determine a theme for your event.

      Unique Questions

CHOOSE THE TYPE OF GUESTBOOK - Next you will want to decide if your Guestbook will be a polaroid photo guestbook that your guests create at the event or if it will be decorated beforehand.

You will also need to consider if you are making a guestbook that is just for signatures and names, if there will be an open space for the guest to write anything, or if there will be specific questions to answer.

*Specific questions to answer can be fun for the guest to write and for you to read, but can be more time consuming to create.
*For more info on a polaroid guestbook see resource section for article.

      Decorated Scrapbook

DECORATE YOUR GUESTBOOK - If you are having polaroid pictures and giving the guest the opportunity to decorate, this step will comprise of gluing the background pages to the scrapbook. It will also comprise of gluing on any specific questions which you chose or open spaces for guest to fill out own space.

If you are creating a guestbook with pictures on before hand, you will also need to attach pictures. These pictures should be specific to your party. You can have a picture of each guest per page (a lot of work), or if it is an anniversary book, pictures of the couple whose anniversary it is. If it is for a reunion, you can decorate it with old pictures from when you last saw the group of people. Be creative and make it personal!

      Guestbook Sharpies

DISPLAY GUESTBOOK & APPROPRIATE TOOLS - Even though you have learned how to make a guestbook, it does not fulfill its purpose if guests do not sign it. Provide different colored sharpies, polaroid camera & pictures, sequins, glue, stickers and whatever else you would like. This will support guests to personalize the guestbook.

Make sure to redirect guests to the guestbook, if they have not yet signed it. Consider passing out the individual pages to the guest or having a specific table for the guestbook to hi-light this part of the event.

Tips & Warnings

  • Have a designated place for guests to place completed Guestbook pages.

  • If you do not want to make a guestbook by hand, consider using an online company such as Mypublisher. Here, you can make a book with pictures relating to event and leave margins empty for signing.

  • It is always better to have too many guestbook pages than not enough. At my event most couples shared a page, but plan for extra pages.
