Being anemic can be a serious health risk. Eating foods high in iron is the best way to prevent anemia. Iron supplements can be risky, and the body absorbs nutrients best from food. Incorporating more iron rich foods is the best way to avoid becoming anemic.

    Eat red meat on a regular basis, which is the best source of iron. Other meat sources include liver and poultry.
