Call up your local newspaper. A huge segment of the population reads the paper faithfully every day, scouring it to look for good deals. Some newspapers will offer a free listing if the item for sale is less than $50, and others will list it for free and only charge a percentage of the selling price for their fee.

Sell it online at an auction site. The most popular one, eBay, has made it very easy and user-friendly for you to post pictures and a description of your silverware. It is great fun to watch the auction of your own items get started and then take off as many people join in the bidding process. Of course, don't forget to calculate the cost of the shipping and packaging since silverware can be heavy.

Give it to a consignment shop for them to sell for you. You will get the majority of the sale price and will not have to worry about answering too many questions about it or being available during the day. When it sells, you collect your proceeds, and the shop owner is happy for the business.
