You can be a part of the order of the Sith by creating your own Sith costume. The Sith are the society of dark lords dedicated to ruling the universe in the Star Wars movie series. Beginning with Darth Vader in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, the Sith expanded as the major nemesis for the good guys in the rest of the series. A Sith is a popular costume because of the romance and danger associated with the characters.
Things You'll Need
- 4 to 6 yards of nubby coarse black fabric
- Roll of newsprint
- Sewing machine or sewing needle
- Straight pins
- Black sewing thread
- Black boots
- Black pants
- Black shirt
- Light saber
Unroll the newsprint flat on the floor so that you are able to lie on it. Have a friend loosely trace your outline with the pencil.
Fold the paper in half lengthwise.
Using your outline as a guide for size, draw a freehand pattern for one side of the robe. Leave plenty of room for an oversized hood and bell shaped sleeves. The length should graze the tops of your shoes. Unfold the paper. You should have a symmetrical pattern.
Cut out the pattern. Using two layers of fabric, pin the pattern to the fabric and cut around it.
Unpin the pattern and sew the two pieces of fabric together, leaving the front open like a robe. Hem the edges.
Finish the look with the black boots, pants and shirt. Don't forget the light saber and any other embellishments you would like.
Tips & Warnings
- Do research on the Sith that you want to build your costume around. Although they all have the same basic dress, most have unique qualities.
