How to Make a Cleaning Solution

Making your own cleaning solutions put you in charge of the ingredients. Not only are they safer than most commercial brands, they cost mere pennies to make and clean just as well as those sold in the store. For a great all-purpose cleaner that is mild on your hands and does a great job of cutting grease and grime, all you need is a few household ingredients and a spray bottle.

Things You'll Need

• Bowl or pitcher
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• 2-3 teaspoons borax
• 1/2 -1 teaspoon dish detergent
• Spray bottle

Instructions

1. Pour two cups of very warm water into a bowl or pitcher.

2. Add one teaspoon of ordinary baking soda to the water and allow to dissolve.

3. Dissolve 2 to 3 teaspoons of borax in the baking soda and water mixture. You can purchase borax in the laundry aisle.

4. Add ½ to 1 teaspoon of your favorite dish detergent. Mix thoroughly and allow to cool.

5. Pour into a spray bottle and use for all your cleaning needs. This solution cuts grease and leaves your home smelling fresh.

Tips & Warnings

• To cut grease, sprinkle baking soda on a damp sponge and scrub the area. Use dish detergent with a good grease cutter.
