A Yorkie poo is a relatively new breed of dog, the result of breeding a Yorkshire terrier with a poodle. The result is hard to predict. Some offspring will favor a Yorkshire terrier, while others will favor the poodle more. The size of a Yorkie poo will range anywhere from 4 to 14 lbs., and they will stand 6 to 9 inches tall. Caring for Yorkie poos will have its own special challenges as you must learn about both Yorkies and poodles.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Dog comb
  • Dog brush
  • Warm milk
  • Honey
  • Happy Traveler Pet Treatment with Kava
  1. Step 1

Yorkie poos should be fed 3 times a day until they are 6 months of age. After 6 months, feedings should be cut back to twice a day. Feed according to your dog's weight and the instructions on the dog food bag. The bigger the dog, the more they will eat.

  2. Step 2

Walk your Yorkie poo at least 3 times a week. Because of their small size, daily walks are not necessary, but a Yorkie poo is easily excitable and will often be full of energy. They make great apartment dogs, but they will require a lot of personal attention to be happy.

  3. Step 3

Brush or comb your Yorkie poo daily. The coat may resemble a terrier's or a poodle's, so grooming tips may vary. Unless you are a groomer, you will need to visit a groomer regularly to care for your Yorkie poo's coat. At the minimum, they will require a quick comb out every day.

  4. Step 4

Give vaccinations according to schedule. Puppies should receive their first DHLPP vaccine (distemper and parvo) between 6 to 8 weeks of age. They should receive additional boosters every 2 to 3 weeks until 4 have been given. After that, your pup will need a yearly booster vaccine.

  5. Step 5

The Yorkie poo should be dewormed at least twice as a puppy, 2 weeks apart. Test the dog for parasites yearly at the veterinarian's office and treat as needed. It is fairly easy for dogs to contract parasites. Warning signs will be diarrhea and upset stomach.

  6. Step 6

Feed your Yorkie Poo warm milk and honey if he gets stressed or overexcited. It is a trait of small dogs to become stressed and hyper, and this mixture will calm them. Also, try Happy Traveler Pet Treatment with Kava. Kava is known for its calming effect.

Tips & Warnings
