Stephanotises are brilliant white flowers more often known as the Hawaiian wedding flower or Madagascar jasmine. Their dainty trumpet shape, waxy resilience and soft fragrance make them well-suited for wedding bouquets, corsages and boutonnieres. Stephanotises are effective in larger arrangements, where their bright white flowers accent any color combination.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Stephanotis Stem cotton-tipped wire extender Thin gloves, latex or latex-free Bowl of cool water Florist wire Florist tape Spray bottle
  1. Step 1

Order stephanotises from a floral supply house. Keep the box of short-stemmed flowers in a cooler until ready to arrange. Put on thin gloves to protect the flower from body oil, and handle gently to protect from bruising.

  2. Step 2

Open a package of Stephanotis Stem cotton-tipped flower wires, and soak in cold water. Pull the green stem off the flower. Thread the wire end of the extender stem through the center of the flower down its throat, and tug gently until the cotton tip is nestled deep inside the flower to keep it hydrated.

  3. Step 3

Wrap green floral tape around the very bottom of the flower and down the stem extender wire. Place wrapped flowers loosely in a small vase, and mist frequently with cool water until you insert them into the flower arrangement.

  4. Step 4

Add stephanotises to a bouquet or arrangement last so that they get the least handling possible and are protected from bruising.

  5. Step 5

Store flower arrangements, bouquets and boutonnieres upright in a cool location until time for presentation. Mist lightly every three to four hours.
