How to Install Network Printer on Windows 2000
A networked printer functions like a local printer but with the added convenience of being able to print from multiple devices. To install and use a network printer in Windows 2000, you should use the "Add Printer" wizard.

Click "Start," then "Settings," then "Printers." Double click the "Add Printer" icon.

Click on "Network Printer." Click "Next."

Click on "Find a printer in the Directory."

Type in the printer name you want to install. Select it from the list of printers on the network and click "OK."

Choose whether you want the network printer to be your default, then click "Finish" to complete the "Add Printer" wizard.
