Instructions

    • 1

Measure the length, width and height of your package using the tape measure. Then, weigh your package. If you do not have packaging yet for the item you wish to ship, you can estimate these figures.

    • 2

Log on to UPS.com (see Resources) and select your geographic location using the on-screen menu.

    • 3

Mouse over the "Shipping" tab at the top of the web page and select "Calculate Time and Cost."

    • 4

Select the option "Quick Time and Cost" in Step 1 of the UPS worksheet if your package or letter contents have a value of less than $100. If the value of the contents in your package is over $100, select "Detailed Time and Cost" in Step 1 of the UPS worksheet.

    • 5

Enter the country, city and zip code of the package origin as well as the package destination in Step 2 of the UPS online worksheet. Also, select whether the destination will be delivered to a residential or commercial address. If you're not sure, select "Have UPS Determine My Destination Type."

    • 6

Enter the date you wish to ship the package and the package weight (if applicable). For "Detailed Time and Cost" inquiries, you will also need to enter the length, width and height of the package; the type of packaging; the declared value of its contents and how you plan to get the package to UPS.

    • 7

Click the "Next" button in the lower right-hand side of the UPS worksheet. You will get a rate quote for several different shipping options, such as UPS Next Day Air, UPS Ground, UPS Next Day Air Saver and more. It will also display a shipping summary and allow you the option of purchasing shipping instantly via the website.

Tips & Warnings

  • If estimating the weight of your package, overestimate the weight to ensure you won't be short on cash when purchasing the shipping. For freight shipment estimates, select the "Freight" tab at the top of the UPS worksheet.
