Instructions

1
Measure 2 to 3 inches above the window and mark that spot with a pencil. Most curtains are taller than the window they will cover.
-
2
Use a straight edge and a level to make a horizontal line through the mark you just made across the width of the entire window. Also, put a mark on that line at the center of your window.

3
Measure the curtain rod you intend to use. Divide that number in half and measure outward in each direction from the center. Mark that distance.
-
4
Measure in about 6 to 8 inches from those 2 marks and mark again. This mark will be where you are going to mount your hooks. If your curtain rod is longer than 8 feet, you may want to consider putting another hook at the center mark as well.
-
5
Drill a pilot hole that is slightly smaller than the wall mounts you have. Hammer the wall anchor into the pilot hole, being careful not to dent the wall or hit it in crooked. Hold the curtain hook up so the hole for the screw is right over the anchor you just installed and screw the screw into the anchor. Repeat this process for the 2nd (and possibly 3rd) hook as well.

Tips & Warnings
If you are want to hang the curtain directly from the hooks, count how many hooks you will need by counting how many holes are at the top of the curtain. Measure how far apart they are. Subtract 1 to 2 inches from that distance and install hooks that far apart. It may be best to make the first mark, and then hold the hook up and mark directly through the hole on the hook so you put the other anchors in exactly the right places.
