Use pin curls to get your curly look.

Maintaining a curly hairstyle when your hair is straight can require a lot of equipment -- curling irons, hot rollers -- that you may not want to take with you when you travel. Or you may want the curly look without using hair-damaging heat to achieve it. Twisting your hair while it's wet can get you the same results without the gear or damage. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Wet your hair in the shower, or spray it until it's damp with a spray bottle. Run a dollop of light pomade through your hair and comb or brush to remove tangles.

    • 2

Part your hair into sections, about 1 inch square. Twist the hair from root to end, then spiral the twisted length down to your scalp. Use a bobby pin to secure the spiral to your head. Continue until all of your hair is twisted and pinned. You may need more than one bobby pin for each section of hair.

Dry your hair with a blow dryer, or let it dry naturally overnight. When it's dry, remove all of the bobby pins and untwist the hair.

Use your fingers to relax the curls just a bit and to style it. Use hair spray to set the style, if you like.
