Step 1
Take a shower. If you've spent a significant amount of time outdoors you probably have pollen on your hair, clothes and skin. Taking a shower and changing your clothes when you come inside for the day will wash the pollen away and make your allergies less severe. In addition the hot water will open your sinuses making it easier to breathe.
-
Step 2
Wear glasses. Wear prescription or sunglasses when outside to keep pollen out of your eyes. Also try not to rub your eyes. Rubbing your eyes will spread pollen into your eyes.
-
Step 3
Keep windows shut. Nothing is better than sleeping in a cool breeze, unless you are an allergy sufferer. Shut the windows and turn on the air conditioning to keep pollen out of the house.
-
Step 4
Avoid the outdoors. Okay, not entirely. The pollen count is usually the highest between 5:00 and 10:00 am, so avoid spending time outdoors during this period if possible. Also get someone else to mow the yard.

on 6/14/2009 Great idea about wearing glasses. I never thought of wearing them as pollen blockers. Allergies stink, so managing them is so important.
