Follow the simple instructions below to get started in applying for Medicaid.

  1. Step 1

    Getting Started

    First and foremost you will need to locate your local Social Security office . This can be done by visiting SocialSecurity.gov or Yellowpages.com (See Resources Section Below). Be sure to review the eligibility requirements listed on the Social Security main website before heading down to the office.

  2. Step 2

    Visit your local Social Security department and inform a worker that you would like to apply for Medicaid.

    Note: When visiting the Social Security Office it is important to arrive as early as possible , depending on the city you live in -- it may take a number of hours before you see a case worker. Also be sure that your brought your Social Security Card and State ID / Drivers License .

  3. Step 3

    Fill out the proper Medicaid application and turn it in to the correct window .

  4. Step 4

    Upon turning in your application a case worker will see you , go over you application / financial position (Dictates eligibility ) , and inform you whether you are eligible or not.

  5. Step 5

    If you are unable to physically make it to the Social Security office you may have a family member apply for you (Check to see if allowed in your particular state).
