Step 1
CHOSE A PLACE: Find a place in your yard that can be easily seen from your window or favorite outdoor seating area. Be sure to keep light requirements in mind for specific plants and flowers when planning your space.
-
Step 2
ELEMENTS FOR YOUR GARDEN: You might just want something simple or you might decide you want a completely organized space. Elements you can incorporate in your garden:
* Trees
* Favorite flowers of your loved one
* Water features - bird bath, fountain, pond
* Seating - bench, chair, or other seating that reflects the personality of the person you are remembering -
Step 3
MARKER: There are so many beautiful markers that are available either online or from your local monument store, florist or garden center. You can choose the stone, size, inscription, and other personal preferances to reflect your feelings for your loved one.
-
Step 4
HONORING A PET: Many memorial gardens are made to remember a special family pet. It is often the burial site of the pet as well. Consider marking the site with a special marker just for your beloved animal.
-
Step 5
NO RULES: There are no set rules for creating a memory garden for your loved one. You may want a quiet and reflective space, neat and contemporary, or a garden full of color and whimsy. Your garden should reflect the personality of your loved one and your relationship with them. It should be a place so that you can remember them with fondness and love.
