Step 1
Getting it RightStep One: Dress / Tuxedo
You really want to start looking for your dress 3-4 months before the prom. This allows time for alterations and delivery of your dress or tuxedo. If you have a date for the prom, once the dress is picked out, men will want to match the vest or suit to their prom dates dress. Have any alterations made so that everything fits perfectly. Tuxedos can be rented the week of the prom and alterations made. Cuff links are included with your tuxedo rental. -
Step 2
Step Two: Accessories / Ensemble
Now that you have your dress picked out, you will want to start picking out your accessories. Start finding shoes, jewelry, and purse. Men start picking out your shoes. Start discussing with your parents as well as your date your plans. You will want to start figuring out your plans for the evening such as transportation, pre and post prom plans and ideas, and make a date for both of you to meet the parents before the prom. -
Step 3
Keep trackStep Three: 30 days before the Prom
Now your dress will probably be ready for pick up. Make sure when picking up your dress, that your try it on again. If any last minute alterations need to be made, do it now!
You will want to order the boutonniere and corsage. You will want to reserve your transportation, set all appointments for hair cuts or style, ladies set up your manicure and pedicure appointments, and makeup appointment. -

Purse EssentialsStep Four: Lastly
Ladies, Have the following prepared:
Have in your purse:
1. Extra Panty-hose
2. Makeup for touch ups
3. Camera & cell phone
4. Cash
5. Gum, mints and travel hairspray
Also have the boutonniere ready.
Gentlemen, Have prepared:
1. Pick up tuxedo
2. Transportation
3. Corsage
4. Wallet & some cash
5. Cell phone
6. Gum, mints, and travel hairspray

Step 5
Step Five : Etiquette / Manners
Remember, this is a special night. You want to be your best. Don't be rude to your date. Be polite. You are at the prom together. Be a team and watch out for each other. Don't just be a date, be a respectful friend.
