Make a Stylish, Easy to Carry Coupon Organizer

If you are a serious "couponer", then you collect a large number of coupons to use when making purchases at the grocery store and other places. You have probably found that most traditional coupon organizers simply aren't big enough, nor do they have enough dividers to adequately hold a large number of coupons. Many people advocate creating a coupon binder to store and sort coupons, and while this is a solution, the binder is often big, bulky and hard to carry around. Well you can create your own stylish, easy to carry coupon organizer that not only sorts all of your coupons, but looks like a small purse.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 5" x 8" Tabbed Index Cards
  • Pen
  • Small Cloth Craft Bag
  1. Step 1

Go to your local supercenter or craft store and look for craft organizer bags. These are cloth bags that come in a variety of sizes and usually have pockets all around the outside of the bag. The inside may or may not have pockets, but it's best to buy ones that do not have internal pockets. You can purchase any size that you like, but the smaller ones are easiest to carry and prevent coupons from moving around too much.

  2. Step 2

Make a list of each category that you want to divide your coupons into(i.e. dairy, produce, etc). You can even break down dairy into separate categories if you like such as cheese, yogurt, etc.

  3. Step 3

Organize the list categories according to the store that you shop at the most and the order of the aisles that you go down. This is important because the index cards have tabs and this will allow you to place the names on the index cards in an order that allows you to move from front to back of the organizer as you shop.

  4. Step 4

At the top tab of each 5" x 8" index card, write a category for the coupon from the list that you just created.

  5. Step 5

Insert coupons in between each index card.

  6. Step 6

In the pockets, insert an extra pen, calculator and anything else that you need.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you have more time, you can print out your labels and stick them onto each index card tab rather than writing each category name.
