Using Microsoft Excel, you can display your data in pie graph form to illustrate percentages of a whole. This can be useful if you are a visual learner, or if you need to spice up a presentation with a visual aid. Make a pie graph in Microsoft Excel easily by following these steps.

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1
    Open your document in Excel
    Open your document in Excel

    Open your Microsoft Excel document that contains the data you want to display in a pie graph.

  2. Step 2
    Highlight your data and insert graph
    Highlight your data and insert graph

    Highlight the data that you want to graph, and with the data selected, click on the "Insert" tab. Under the insert tab, the "chart" section lists a number of different graphs that you can choose from.

  3. Step 3

    Select the type of pie graph you want to use from among the selections listed in the chart section under the insert tab.

    Select the "Design" tab to view the different chart display options. This is where you can change the color and layout of your pie graph. Click on the different style and layout types to preview your pie graph until you find the combination that you like best.

Tips & Warnings
  • Microsoft Excel will insert your chart directly into your spreadsheet. If you wish to use the pie graph in a word document or a power point presentation, simply right click your chart and select "copy", then paste it into your document.
