Step 1
Consider your child's age. Young babies will mostly like anything that has tags, or a soft silky material on their security blanket. They might not care about color or if their name is on it just yet. Older babies might really like a security blanket that resembles a stuffed animal or a favorite character.

Step 2
Babies and toddlers cannot read, so to them a personalized security blanket does not matter. However, it is a great idea to get a personalized security blanket if your child goes to day care or spends time at a friend's house. Having your baby's name clearly on the security blanket is not only cute for adults to view but helps you keep track of your baby's security blanket.

Step 3
Always buy at least two identical security blankets! We have all seen the toddler who totes around a nasty, ragged, stained security blanket that begs to be washed. If you only have one security blanket, your child might come unglued to see their beloved blanket tossed in the wash. Instead, cleverly rotate the security blankets so that your baby can always have a blanket and the other can be washed as needed.

Step 4
If you want your child to get attached to a particular security blanket that you have chosen, give it to them every time you comfort them. If they fall, comfort them while involving the security blanket. Use the blanket for every nap time and night time as well. Before you know it, your baby will have a cute security blanket!
