How to Make a 3D Paper Kite
Making a 3-D kite is a simple and fun project that can be enjoyed by kids and adults alike. These instructions will allow you to make a fully functioning kite that is flyable and decorative. These kites are fairly easy to make quickly if you need a craft project for a large gathering of children.
Things You'll Need
- Large brown paper bag
- Strong string (kite string works best)
- Scissors
- Hole punch
- Hole reinforcers (of the type used on notebook paper that are circular stickers)
- Glue (Elmer's white glue is fine)
- Paint, crayons or markers for decorating your kite
- Paper streamers or crepe paper cut into strips
- Tape measure

Use the hole punch to put four holes in your paper bag, one in each corner of the bag near the opening.

Reinforce your punched holes with one or more of the hole reinforcers.

Cut two lengths of string 30 inches long.

Tie the ends of the strings to the four holes to make two string loops.

Cut another length of string 30 inches long.

Tie the new string to the two string loops to make your kite handle.

Decorate your bag with the markers, paint or crayons.

Glue several streamers or strips of crepe paper to the bottom of the bag to make kite tails.

Let the glue dry.

Go fly a kite.

Tie more string to the kite handle if you wish to fly your kite higher in the air.
