How to Convert AVI to MPG4

Go to the AVS website or the CNET Download Center website (see Resources) to download and install the AVS Video Converter, It is free to download and try the AVS Video Converter, but you do need to pay for a full license to keep it past the trial period. The cost, as of 2009, is $39.

Click the "To MPEG" icon that is located on the toolbar to set the output type as MPEG. To further refine it as MPG4, just click on the drop-down menu by "Profile," and select MPG4 from the list of MPEG file types.

Add your AVI files to the program by clicking on the "Browse" button that is located by the Input File field. You can add multiple files at the same time.

Click on the "Browse" button by the Output File field to set the output location. Browse to select where on your computer you want the new MPG4 files converted to.

Convert the AVI to MPG4 by clicking "Convert Now." Watch the progress bar that appears fill as the conversion completes. Click "OK" on the pop-up that appears to tell you that the conversion was successfully completed. Now the new MPG4 files will be ready for use.
