How to Make Wooden Cookie Cutters
Although they are not as popular now, wooden cookie cutters were some of the earliest forms of cookie molds. Hundreds of years ago, designs were carved into pieces of wood and later stamped into the dough to create designs on cookies. Today's cookie cutters are now made of tin, steel or plastic, but there's no reason you couldn't make cookie cutters out of wood just like in the old days.

Choose a simple, iconic design, like a heart or a star. Take a printout of your design and trace it onto your piece of wood using your pencil. Use the ruler to measure 1/8 inch away from your design. Trace out a second, 1/8-inch larger version of your outline. You could also print out a larger version of your design, and use that for tracing on the wood.

Use the jigsaw to cut along the inner design. Work around the outer edge of the design using the jigsaw. You should now have a 1/8-inch thick wooden design. Take your sandpaper, and sand down any raw edges of the cookie cutter.
