How to Get Rid of a Moth Ball Smell

Moth balls are often packed with clothing to prevent moth larva from eating holes in the fabric. While this can keep the bugs at bay, you will have to contend with the odor from the moth balls when you wear your clothing again. Here are some simple steps you can take to get rid of moth ball smell.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Clothes dryer
  • Unscented baby (talcum) powder
  • Hair dryer
  • Fabric softener sheets
  1. Step 1

    Liberally sprinkle your clothes with unscented baby or talcum powder.

  2. Step 2

    Blow dry your clothes with the hair dryer on medium heat. You can also line dry the clothing.

  3. Step 3

    Place the clothes into the clothes dryer.

  4. Step 4

    Tumble dry with one or two fabric-softener sheets until the clothing is completely dry and fresh smelling.

  5. Step 5

    Repeat the steps above if there is still a moth ball smell in your clothes.
