How to Wind a Rolex Submariner

The Rolex Submariner for more than 50 years has been the wristwatch of choice for divers who want a reliable timepiece that winds itself while the owner wears the watch. However, the Rolex will wind down in 2 to 3 days if not worn daily. Learn how to wind a Rolex Submariner manually.

Instructions

1. Turn the crown on the side of the watch clockwise a few times to make the stem pop out. Turn the crown clockwise with your fingertips for 25 to 30 rotations to engage the gear mechanism. Pull the crown until it rotates freely.

2. Set the hour and minute. Push in the crown midway to stop the movement of the hour and minute hands.

3. Turn the crown clockwise another 20 rotations to finish winding the watch. Press the crown flush with the bezel.
