How to Use the Hospital Anxiety & Depression Scale
The hospital anxiety and depression scale (HADS) is a self-assessment screening questionnaire. The scoring provides information on the potential presence as well as the severity of anxiety and/or depression disorders. While it is used in hospitals, it is also used in private practices. This scale along with a clinical examination is used for diagnosis.

Your answers will correspond to a numerical value for each question, with the ratings of 3, 2, 1 or 0. A total score of 0 to 7 indicates that you do not have anxiety or depression. Borderline cases score between 8 and 10, and definite cases have a score of 11 and above.
If you or a loved one are experiencing symptoms of depression or anxiety, seek medical advice and treatment. If you or a loved one have thoughts of suicide, seek emergency treatment.
