Instructions

  1. Several Simple Suggestions

    • 1

Mix bleach and water in equal parts in a spray bottle. If your grout isn't white, use a color-safe bleach so as not to fade the color. Spray the grout with the solution, and allow it to soak for at least five minutes before scrubbing with a toothbrush. Rinse the area with clean water when all of the dirt and debris have been removed.

    • 2

Make a paste of baking soda and water, and apply it to the grout with a soft clean cloth. Allow the paste to sit on the grout for two to three minutes before scrubbing with a toothbrush or soft clean cloth. Rinse away all of the paste and debris with clear water.

    • 3

Mix hydrogen peroxide and water in a spray bottle and saturate the grout. After three or four minutes, use an old toothbrush to scrub the grout. Use clean water to rinse.

    • 4

Using the attachment of a steam cleaner, apply steam to a section of the grout for one to two minutes. The dirt should be loosened after the steam, and you will be able to use a toothbrush or soft clean cloth to remove the grout. Use clean water to rinse.

    • 5

Make a mixture of vinegar and water in equal parts in a spray bottle. Spray the grout with enough of the solution to thoroughly soak it, and allow it to sit for five minutes before scrubbing it away with a clean cloth or toothbrush. Rinse with clean water.
