- piece of acetate or see through stiff plastic
- free printable stencil(s)
- tape
-
Step 1
Make certain that your free printable stencil is the ideal size. If you need it larger or smaller, you can enlarge or reduce it on a photocopier.
-
Step 2
Secure the free stencil printout on the see through plastic using tape along the edges. Make sure it is on tight and won't move as you cut the stencil. You don't want it to slip or else you'll have to start over again. Maneuver the stencil so there is an inch border of the plastic all around it.
-
Step 3
Cut with the sharp craft knife. Sharpen the knife if necessary. A blunt tool can cause the task to take longer and possible be more rugged instead of smooth.
-
Step 4
Cut with firm pressure, with one stroke, and smooth. Begin with straight edges. Keep your fingers on the plastic at all times to help keep it in place but be certain that your fingers aren't near where you are cutting the stencils. Safety is important.
-
Step 5
Turn the stencil and plastic so you are cutting in a smooth, fluid fashion. Make it easy on yourself. Take your time and be thorough.
-
Step 6
Once finished, check out the stencil. Check for rough edges and fix them. Now you are ready to use your free printable stencil. Enjoy!
