Clean Your Saltwater Aquarium
Clean Your Saltwater Aquarium

After you read this you will know the proper way to clean your saltwater aquarium, without harming your fish.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Water siphon
  • New Soft Sponge
  • Bucket
  • Salt mix
  • Hydrometer
  • chlorine remover
  1. Step 1

Fist you want to turn off the power to your aquarium, then remove the decorations and filter you have in your tank. Clean the filter and decorations thoroughly with water.

  2. Step 2

About every two weeks you want to remove 20% of the water, and once every month you want to remove 50% of the water. With the siphon remove the desired amount of water into the bucket. While your removing the water use the siphon to suck up any uneaten food and fish debris on the bottom of the tank.

  3. Step 3

After you have the desired amount of water out take the new sponge and clean the inside glass of the tank. The water you put back in should be very close to the same temperature as in the tank. Fill the bucket with water and add the chlorine remover and the salt mix before you put it back in the tank.

  4. Step 4

Use the hydrometer to measure the salinity of the water in the bucket, it should read around 1.022 and 1.023. When you got it right add the water back in the tank. Then add your decorations, filter, and turn everything back on. That's all it takes to clean your aquarium
