Remove Dark Contact Stains from White Cotton

It's nice when a family member volunteers to do the laundry, but sometimes there can be unpleasant results - such as when your favorite white blouse gets tossed in with the black jeans, and now your blouse is stained. But, there is a way to remove the unwanted color. My mother was taught the following technique from her brother, who helped run the laundry owned by her family.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Measure a quarter cup of liquid bleach into an empty washing machine. Be careful not to splash the bleach on your clothing.

  2. Step 2

Fill the washing machine with warm water. Turn the washer off and stir the water with your hand to make sure the bleach and water is well blended.

  3. Step 3

Put the item of clothing in the washing machine and submerge in the water. Allow it to soak for fifteen minutes.

  4. Step 4

Wash the article of clothing as normal after the fifteen minute soak.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't send the stained clothing through the dryer until the stain is completely removed, or it can set the stain.

on 7/6/2009 Good article. I hate doing the laundry because some stains seem impossible.
