Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Remove all dirt, grime, lawn clippings and sludge from the tractor. It is especially important to remove any debris from around pulleys, belts, or other moving parts.

  2. Step 2

Oil and lubricate all points on the tractor that require lubrication. Follow the tractors manual instructions as to which type of lubricant to use and where to use it.

  3. Step 3

Check blades for damage. Replace the blades if they are damaged or bent. If the blades are dull, have them sharpened.

  4. Step 4

Examine any filters such as the air filter, fuel filter, oil filter, etc. Clean or replace them if needed. Change the oil, and be sure to refill with the correct weight oil recommended for the tractor.

  5. Step 5

Verify the air pressure in the tires is correct. Replace tires if they are cracked or rotting.
